Academy of N.S. Mikhalkov announces the shortlist of the regional casting, held with the support of the Timchenko Fund in 2018

The N.S. Mikhalkov Academy of Cinematographic and Theatre Arts reviews the preliminary results of the regional special-purpose program, held in the regions of Russia with the support of the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation. The purpose of the admission campaign was to promote professional growth of the theater and film new generation professionals from various regions of the country. Thanks to the visiting admission committees, young professionals will be able to resume studying in the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy for another year free of charge (subsidized out of the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charity Foundation funds).


The admission committee have shortlisted 12 people recommended for the final round of the admission tests in the framework of the project "Supporting Young Theater and Cinema Specialists from the Regions of the Country":

This year the visiting search committees were held in five regions of Russia: the Samara Region, the Rostov Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Omsk Region and the Republic of Karelia. Selection was carried out in the area of acting. Experts with higher profile education, last year students of the profile faculties or professionals with the background in the cinema and theater were invited to participate in the visiting admission committees. The age limit for actors was set under 35.
The visiting admission committees involved eminent figures of culture and art, Honored Artists, rector’s administration and teachers of the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy of Cinematographic and Theatrical Art: Suren Shahumyan, first Vice-Rector of the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy; Alexey Litvinov, Vice-rector for the development and organization of the creative process; Igor Belyaev, Vice-rector for educational and organizational work; Vladimir Alenikov, director, screenwriter, and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation; Peter Buslov, film director, screenwriter, and film actor; Viktor Verzhbitsky, theater and cinema actor, and People's Artist of the Russian Federation; Boris Galkin, theater and cinema actor, director, producer, and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation; Alexander Koruchekov, theater and cinema actor and director; Avangard Leontiev, theater and cinema actor, and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation; and Igor Yatsko, theater and cinema actor, director, and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
In total, over 240 applications for the participation in the program have been received. The total number of the participants is 125 people. At the first stage, the applicant had to fill in an electronic application for the participation in the competitive selection in one of the cities on the website, and send it off. Then they had to go through the interview and perform creative tasks chosen by the admission committee.
Following the results of the final creative interview, which will be held in late August, the workshop heads of the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy will select the winners of the targeted regional program.

Briefing:
The visiting admission campaign is an all-Russian educational project, which is held by the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy for the third consecutive year with the support of the Timchenko Foundation. Last year, 19 trainees from the Russian regions were admitted to the Academy on favorable terms, in total 32 trainees were supported by the Foundation and were able to undergo training on reduced-price conditions during the academic year. For young professionals from regions, the joint program of the Academy and the Foundation is an opportunity not only to prove themselves, but also to achieve new professional and creative success.
