Between 10 and 20 March, the Akvaloo KSK [Concert and Sports Venue (CSV)] will host the fifth all-Russian chess competition for the teams of the Voskhozhdeniye [Ascension] children’s homes and orphanages.

The anniversary tournament will be a special event: this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Cosmos – Earth chess match, and the participating children will be offered a number of themed events.

The tournament’s opening ceremony, to be held 10 March, will feature a gala concert, prepared by children and volunteers, and a team presentation, as well as outlining further Cosmos-related activities throughout the period.

The competitions will be supplemented with an exhibition of children’s drawings, which will feature the works by entrants in past tournaments, and various contests, prepared by the organizers and volunteers.

Forty-six teams from 29 Russian states have registered for the competitions.

The tournament is held by the Chess Federation of Russia with support from the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko.
