The SiD [Family & Children (F&C)] journal published a new issue for the second quarter of 2019. The issue focuses on the subject of domestic abuse, global perceptions of the problem, its causes and solutions.
The issue includes presentations by foster care professionals at workshops and conferences on the subject in Moscow and St Petersburg; interviews with psychologists and professionals who work with children and teenagers in crisis; findings of a survey of Russians on corporal punishments of children; the results of an RF Government-sponsored meeting on assisted living.
The issue also presents the findings of a survey of children on what they want to know about their prospective foster parents. This item ushers in a series of publications on studies that won the competition “The Voice of a Child: Children as Experts”.
The item “Adoption: a Secret or Not?” raises the question of ethics and starts a debate over positive and negative aspects of closed adoptions. The Timchenko Foundation’s Family and Children programme invites professionals, foster parents and foster children, adoptive parents and adoptees to take part in it. In its future issues, the F&C journal will regularly publish stories and expert views and arguments to explore the problem. You can email in your personal or professional stories at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The F&C journal is published with support from the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko. Its issues address subjects such as fostering and prevention of social orphanhood, validated practices in childhood protection, the problems of biological and adoptive families and their solutions, improvements in the life of orphaned children with disabilities, children’s well-being index etc.
The F&C electronic journal is a quarterly distributed free of charge by subscription among fostering and social orphanhood prevention professionals.
You can download the issue from the portal for childhood professionals.
