The Children’s Sledge Hockey League launches a new project, Mentors, with support from the Timchenko Foundation in the 2020/21 hockey season. Its mission is to facilitate the professional growth of the members of Children’s Sledge Hockey League teams and the sharing of best practices and values between adult and young players, strengthen the bridges between generations and promote an active and healthy lifestyle and disabled hockey in Russian Federation states.

In the 2020/21 season, the project will be joined by professional players from sledge hockey clubs:

Aleksey Lysov, Meritorious International Master of Sports, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, bronze medallist at the World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Dmitry Lisov, Meritorious International Master of Sports, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, bronze medallist at the World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Ilya Popov, Meritorious International Master of Sports, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, bronze medallist at the World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Vladimir Kamantsev, Meritorious International Master of Sports, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, bronze medallist at the World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Ilya Volkov, Meritorious International Master of Sports, silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sochi, bronze medallist at the World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Sergey Panfilov, International Master of Sports, bronze medallist at World Championship, European champion and many-time champion of Russia.

Terms:

  • The project targets the Children’s Sledge Hockey League teams that have no adult sledge hockey clubs operating in the region.
  • During the season, such a team can apply (maximum twice) for a Mentor to attend the team’s training event. The Mentor will come on a 3-day visit; the programme must include on- and off-ice training sessions and classes. Also encouraged are promotional events featuring a Mentor (a Paralympic class at school, meeting with the town’s sporting cadre, tournament opening, media breakfast, conference etc.).
  • Your entry form must be filed a month before the event at the latest.
  • You cannot choose a specific mentor to attend your planned event; they will be assigned in accordance with their schedules.
  • The League provides transportation (from the place of residence to the venue city), accommodation and board for the Mentor, and promotional merchandise for the event participants.
  • The team pays the costs of organizing and holding the event, photo/video taking, as well as the expenses related to Mentor’s logistics during the event itself.
  • Within 2 days after completion of the event, the Team delivers to the League photos, videos and an event report in no particular format (you need to specify the number of participants and give 2-3 quotes from the children and parents).
  • Teams that fail to send in their event report on schedule will be removed from the project.
