The Mikhalkov Cinema and Theatre Academy publicly invites enrolment applications for 2020/2021 academic year under the following further vocational education programmes: “Modern Acting”, “Directing in the 21th Century” and “21st Century Producer”.

The applicants who pass the creativity tests will be able to attend the Mikhalkov Academy tuition free thanks to support from the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko. To be eligible for the programme called “Grants for Young Provincial Theatre and Cinema Professionals”, the enrollees must have RF citizenship and a college degree in acting, directing or producing and pass competitive selection.

You can submit your enrolment application online or by emailing your form at anketa@academynsm.ru. For the acting workshop, you need to complete your form in a video format (showreel). For the directing class, you need to provide a synopsis of your future graduation film and an artistic curriculum vitae. Producers must submit their forms complete with a free-form essay showcasing the creative potential of the applicant.

The enrolment drive will be nationwide. As part of the admissions board’s activities between April and May 2020, Irkutsk, Astrakhan, Chelyabinsk, Cheboksary and Yoshkar-Ola will receive visits from travelling auditions – an all-Russian special educational project that has been around for a number of years now as part of sponsorship by the Timchenko Foundation. For young provincial professionals, this is a chance not only to put themselves on the map, showcase their professional potential and add to their cultural capital but also to “get a career leg-up” – receive training at the Academy tuition free.

The campaign will end with an audition, which will take place in August 2020. It will be offered to the short-listed candidates.

Training at the Academy includes a number of educational stages, which involve lectures, practicals in major-related subjects and meetings with prominent culture and arts figures. Having completed the curriculum, the Academy graduates who pass final certification will be awarded a vocational degree in their chosen field. Upon the completion of their training at the Academy, the enrollees will present a thesis — a unique creative product such as a film or a show.  The deadline for online applications is 14 August 2020.
