With support from the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko, Ice Hockey Academy ChOU [private educational establishment (PEE) for] DPO [further vocational education (FVE)], St Petersburg, invites children’s amateur coaches, DYuSSh [junior sports school (JSS)] and SDYuShOR [Junior Olympic Reserve Sports School (JORSS)] coaches to enter into a competition to attend the Puchkov Higher Hockey Coach School under the programme entitled “Theory and Methodology for Training Highly Skilled Hockey Players” (college and university graduates only).

The deadline for competition entries is 20 April.

Attendance: May 2020 — May 2021.

The competition is open to coaches resident in the following regions:

  • Northwestern Federal District
  • Privolzhsky [Volga] Federal District
  • Far-Eastern Federal District

The applicants will be screened by the Ice Hockey Academy on a competitive basis, the number of places being limited.

The enrollees accepted will be offered free training, with a graduation certificate to be issued on completion of course, accommodation for the entire period of training (for out-of-town enrollees), as well as reimbursement for travel to and from the place of training (if required, subject to the availability of rail/bus tickets).

The application deadlines and the regulatory, statutory and contact documentation are available on the Hockey Academy’s official website.

The Timchenko Foundation has been sponsoring such training events since 2013, aware as it is of the importance of upskilling for coaches. We believe it important that it be children’s coaches, who lay the groundwork for future sports achievements of young Russians, that master the latest training methodologies and procedures and learn about sociological and psychological research into child behaviour. The coach’s professionalism is instrumental not only to the children’s performance in sports, but also to their physical health and life goals.
