Focus on the Family All-Russian Competition

Implementation of sponsored projects 15 May – 15 November 2018

Description

In 2016-2017, the Focus on the Family competition sponsored 40 projects from 35 provinces whose teams received training in practices for implementing mentoring, in solutions for preventing parents from giving up their biological and foster, in working with families that foster HIV-positive children, and in bringing back together children and their biological families.

Their training completed, the participants put their newly gained expertise to practical use, implementing approaches or solutions.

The organizers believe it important that the best practices in childhood protection be made not only available but also serve as effective tools for professionals and in family life, and facilitate sustainable development and children’s well-being.

The Focus on the Family competition caters to the real needs of professionals. That is why there is no deadline for entries.

Purpose of the competition

Improve the accessibility, availability, accessibility, affordability and quality of professional assistance to families and children in the context of prevention of social orphanhood and the fostering of orphaned and abandoned children in the RF.

Areas of focus

  • Facilitate the distribution and implementation in Russia of practices (models, procedures, methodologies, services etc.) that have proved effective in preventing social orphanhood and in fostering orphaned and parentless children;
  • Improve the knowledge and skills of childhood professionals and foster family communities in the area of prevention of social orphanhood and fostering of orphaned and abandoned children (including children with disabilities, teenagers and siblings);
  • Facilitate the application and implementation of new knowledge and skills in the business processes of organizations addressing social orphanhood;
  • Facilitate cross-training by childhood professionals and representatives from foster family communities.
