The annual competition to sponsor initiatives by provincial non-profits to form junior sledge hockey teams kicks off 1 April. The winners will be eligible for up to 1 mln roubles in funding for projects to promote special hockey as an effective method for physical and social rehabilitation of children and teenagers with disabilities.
The competition is open to officially registered non-profits in Russia that are experienced in working with families that have children with disabilities. Organizations may enter into the Competition only one project to launch a training process for new children’s sledge hockey clubs and teams.
The new teams will be able to use the funding to rent sports facilities, buy supplies and gear, pay for the services of coaches, transport and technical costs of getting the training process underway and bringing children on the team.
“Thanks to the fact that we have been running the competition for a number of years now, hockey has become available to children with disabilities in 10 new states, and as many as 23 teams in all are in our sledge hockey orbit now. They will all meet at the end of the month in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, where the 3rd All-Russian Disabled Hockey Festival will take place between 26 and 30 April,” said Igor Baradachev, head of the Sports programme at the Timchenko Foundation.
To enter the Hockey for All competition, email your form to info@paraicehockey.ru between April and 15 May. The winners will be identified by a Jury Panel, to be formed from representatives of the Children’s Sledge Hockey League, the Timchenko Foundation and key affiliates. The competition winners will be named on International Children’s Day, 1 June 2021.
The competition’s results will be published on the websites of Children’s Sledge Hockey League and the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko.
