Game On!
The Children's Sledge Hockey League has won the first Game On! all-Russian competition, organized by the National Priorities INO and the RF Sports Ministry as part of a federal project called Sports Are a Way of Life! Set up in 2016, the league today unites 30 teams from 25 provinces. The squad of the Children's Sledge Hockey League medalled at international competitions. Besides sledge hockey, the league promotes hockey for the deaf and the blind and other types of special hockey. “We are happy that sledge hockey, which the Timchenko Foundation started promoting in Russia in 2012, has gained well-deserved recognition. Today, this parasport raises no questions; it has claimed its place in the large hockey family. Wholehearted social acceptance will facilitate further growth of this game, so that special kids could play hockey in any town in this country”, emphasized Igor Baradachov, head of the Sports programme at the Timchenko Foundation. The awards ceremony was hosted by Mercury Space in Moscow 15 April. The Children's Sledge Hockey League was presented with a certificate worth 1000000 roubles for growth. Included in the top three are also the developers of a running app and the organizers of the Crimea X Run tournament. According to the organizers, the competition received more than 2.6 thousand entries in all. Ninth Good Ice kicks off
The first of April is the start of   Good Ice, a competition to support children's ice hockey promotion initiatives, organized by the Sports Studies Academy Not-for-Profit Association sponsored by the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko. The competition is designed to promote children's hockey in towns and rural areas, support enthusiasts united by the idea of promoting hockey and making sports available to disadvantaged or at-risk children and those from single-parent or large families, as well as promote hockey for girls. It is open to officially registered non-profits in Russia, as well as local government agencies. The winners will be awarded funding up to 1,500,000 roubles. Entries are solicited from St Petersburg, Leningrad Oblast, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Vologda Oblast, Kaliningrad Oblast, Murmansk Oblast, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Novgorod Oblast, Pskov Oblast, Republic of Karelia, Komi Republic, Kirov Oblast, Nizhny-Novgorod Oblast, Perm Krai, Republic of Mordovia, Republic of Tatarstan, Udmurtian Republic, Chuvash Republic, Amur Oblast, Zabaykalsky Krai, Primorsky Krai, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Khabarovsk Krai, Irkutsk Oblast and Altai Republic. The competition accepts entries from 1 April to 5 May 2021. The results will be published by 1 June 2021 on the websites of the Good Ice programme and the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko. I Love Mum, Dad and Hockey!
The fifth series of the I Love Mum, Dad and Hockey! family festivals hit the high-water mark: 38 events took place in towns and villages across five federal districts. One-day festivals have been held since 2016 under the Good Ice programme of the Timchenko Foundation with support from the Russian Ice Hockey Federation with a view to promoting children's and junior hockey and an active lifestyle. Gym managers and volunteer coaches say that such events drum up business for the gym. What is more, community sports as such spread: guests from neighbouring population centres return home with an enthusiasm – they begin building or refurbishing their hockey rinks, promote winter sports and start receiving guests on their own turf a short one or two years later! The I Love Mum, Dad and Hockey! festivals take place mostly in towns and villages where leisure infrastructure is underdeveloped, and often become the highlight of the winter. The rink pulls in adults and children – the families involved in the competitions, spectators and supporters, and the volunteers who help the teams. I Love Mum, Dad and Hockey! does not put a premium on winning because many entrants take a hockey stick in their hands for the first time, but gifts from the organizers and fun times are had by all! The event programme is not limited to family competitions – the kids take part in quizzes and relay races: they play darts, shoot at a shooting gallery and play tug of war. This year the organizing committee of the Good Ice programme singled out the Vorkuta festival for its rich content. The festival went as far as to include musical performances. And that was despite a cold snap of 37 degrees below freezing! “It was a total success! A genuine fest! 28 teams. People even went as far as to ask whether it was indeed Vorkuta. A very big event and great fun!” said the social media posts of event participants.

Hockey Family Fest in Nizhny Novgorod
In the Autumn of 2020, the Children's Sledge Hockey League with support from the Festival's key sponsors, the Fonbet company and the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko, set up a competition for the states of the Russian Federation to host the annual hockey tournament for children and teenagers with disabilities, called Hockey Family Fest, in 2021. The competition named a winner – Nizhny Novgorod. The Hockey Family Fest Festival will take place between 26 April and 1 May in one of the most scenic areas of the Nizhny-Novgorod Oblast, at a sports facility called The Sea of Sports. The site's sports infrastructure has disabled facilities and boasts two ice arenas, which will see sports battles rage over four days. Given the pandemic restrictions, the facility will be closed to the public for the duration of the Festival, but live broadcasts of the matches and events will be available to all supporters on the League's YouTube channel.
